ABOUT EKT
General Information

EKT 90 Inc. is a Thunder Bay-based company that has worked in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Quebec in Canada; Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New York in the United States, and abroad in Costa Rica and Romania.  It was formed in 1989 as an outgrowth of EKT Group Inc., Tamarron and Kamtar, and is headed by Jay Sinclair and Denis Magne.  

The EKT history of work includes new paper machine installations, paper machine rebuilds, equipment installations, heavy mechanical conveyor systems, structural erections, piping installations, and civil projects.  Specializing in installation which require Mill shutdowns, EKT has established a record of completing projects on time, on budget, with a high degree of workmanship.  Trades employed are millwrights, ironworkers, operating engineers, pipefitters, and boilermakers.

Jay Sinclair is a graduate of Michigan Technological University. As an entrepreneur he enjoys partnerships, joint ventures, turnkey and fast track projects.  The most significant was the 350 million dollar greenfield expansion of the Dryden Mill for Avenor.  The project was a fast track joint venture and included a wood room, stud mill, continuous digester, and two full kraft pulp and fine paper machine lines.  Associated bleach plant, folio sheeter and packaging systems were also included.  Jay started his engineering and construction business in 1970 and now has over 40 years experience in the industry.

DenisMagneHeadshot.jpg (83464 bytes) Denis Magne, a partner in the firm, is a millwright by trade with an excellent mechanical background and has developed skills which enable him to quickly attack a project from a manpower, estimating and scheduling basis.  Denis' history as a project manager and 30 years of construction experience is a major asset to the group.  
WalterSchincariolHeadshot.jpg (25115 bytes) Walter Schincariol, a partner in the firm, is an exceptional millwright.  He is a master at making routine projects out of the most difficult situations.  He has handled and scheduled major paper machine rebuilds and is comfortable with critical path scheduling.  Walter adds 30 years of rigging and mechanical experience to the group.
JayChildsHeadshot.jpg (26316 bytes) Jay Childs is a C.E.T. and a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.  He has been with the group for 15 years and provides the estimating, contract & specification review functions as well as coordinating purchasing and subtrades within the field.
AndrewSinclairHeadshot.jpg (44953 bytes) Andrew Sinclair is an HBComm graduate of Lakehead University.  While articling with BDO Dunwoody, he earned the designation of Chartered Accountant.  Andrew handles purchasing and field coordination of tools and equipment.  He also provides our customers with next-day costs during shutdowns.  
TomRoffey.JPG (37540 bytes) Tom Roffey is a job superintendent and a Millwright by trade.  He has an exceptional ability to solve problems on the most difficult projects.
AnnSpicerHeadshot.jpg (59476 bytes) Anne Spicer has been with the group for 25 years.  In addition to being the office computer whiz, she handles all accounting functions including tax returns for EKT and other corporations.
IreneCaseyHeadshot.jpg (46496 bytes) Irene Casey will be the first voice you hear when you call EKT.  She is most valuable for her work controlling payroll and job costing operations.  Irene is at home in the office or the field.
Jason Carr Jason Carr is a pipefitter by trade. Jason has been running EKT's pipe fabrication and spooling shop and has been keeping clients happy not only with efficient quality work, but with the maintenance of records and paperwork, especially where TSSA standards need to be met.
